Every beginning is difficult , they say. And getting up early is me not like that. So I was not today the first of our three students on the ward , but the last one. The advantage was I had to remove any blood , that the other two have already done for me. As Famulant I also think it's important to practice such simple things , I like to come a bit later ;-)
Lazy but I was not : After breakfast visit and meeting , I still had one patient put a Braunüle : That is already a higher level of difficulty, and I must not blame me.

The highlight for today was a Schilddrüsenresektion . The surgeons call it already only jokingly turtle , because it sounds so similar . For a general surgeon , the neck is rather a foreign territory , but as a hormone- producing gland they also part of the repertoire to do so.
For me it was not so easy . Because the cut can cause cosmetic problems in the neck , you want to keep him on the one hand particularly small. On the other hand, one gets then as PJ'ler the task of keeping the small cut as large as possible with the hook. It costs quite a bit of strength . But the intervention was at least not very long - about two hours - and the important recurrent laryngeal nerve , we have well preserved. A successful second day.
